Justin Bieber Faces Permanent Exile

It's hard to imagine a more obnoxious figure than Justin Bieber, the 19-year-old bad boy teen heartthrob.

So it's good to know he may have just dug himself a hole so deep that even Lindsay Lohan couldn't get out of.

Bieber is not a U.S. citizen.  He is a Canadian citizen in the United States on an O-1 temporary work visa, which is for persons of "extraordinary ability" in the arts, among other things.  See http://www.eonline.com/....

Of course, confusion abounds.  One article today, citing the same immigration lawyer mentioned in the previous article, said he was a "lawful permanent resident" here in the U.S. on an O-1 visa.  http://gma.yahoo.com/... .

That's nonsense, of course.  Being a lawful permanent resident means being an immigrant, that is, somebody with a green card, which gives a permanent right to reside and work in the United States. He doesn't have a green card.  He is an O-1 nonimmigrant (that is, a person admitted for a temporary purpose).

I think there's a good chance he'll end up deported, because he just commiited a large host of offenses that can lead to deportation.  See http://www.thesmokinggun.com/....

But his problem might even be much worse than anybody has reported so far.  See the Miami police report linked from that previous link.  It correctly states his birth city as Toronto.  But it states that his citizenship is "USA," which is false.

Why did the Miami cops write down that he is a U.S. citizen?

If it was based on a false report from Bieber himself, then that false claim to U.S. citizenship would make him DEPORTABLE from the United States, and worse than that it would make him PERMANENTLY INADMISSIBLE from the United States (in other words, no coming back to the United States ever, under any circumstances).  And there is no waiver available under current law for that disability.

I don't know if he made such a false claim, but I think it's probable.

Does anybody think that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the deportation cops) will have the courage to put super-wealthy Bieber into custody and force him to go through deportation proceedings?

I doubt it, but I sure hope so.
