I've been closely following the Ebola disaster (an epidemic in West Africa, not yet a pandemic there, possibly a global plague). I think there is much more risk from sweat than is generally recognized.
In some recent Ebola diaries, a few people have shown up to claim that it's impossible for Ebola to be transmitted from sweat of an infected person, either through direct contact with the person or from an object like a doorknob.
In some of those discussions, I've been mocked as a fool who knows nothing about science. One guy, who claimed to have a M.S. degree in infectious diseases, said he was "wearied" by my comments. I was not impressed.
Ebola is not very contagious compared to many viral diseases, and there's a decent chance it will be contained in the United States. But it's a bigger threat than many people are now assuming, based on overly rosy assessments from the government and the main stream media. Don't believe what Dr. Sanjay Gupta says! Consider it, but don't accept as final scientific fact.
