In God’s Library
November 27, 2007
In God’s library
everything is slow
for everyone but God.
God Himself,
like a flock of hummingbirds,
attends on everything.
God opens the chest of the Humans.
There they are, like specimens in a museum,
in ordered ranks, in ordered depths,
numbered to the trillions, each unique,
a child of God. On each God shines
His infinitely loving and patient regard,
the way a stamp collector remembers,
and loves, and cares for every stamp,
coming back regularly to them, staying
close, protecting them, chastising them
when flawed, always kind and calm.
God is with His Humans for hundreds
of years, a long moment for God.
God smiles at every Human
and closes the chest.
God turns to the stars
and all of the rest.
